At-Need Funeral Arrangements
It is the Funeral Directors' responsibility to assist families in making the right choices. As professionals in serving the public, they pledge to ensure that:
  • the consumer has been dealt with in an informed and courteous manner;
  • their needs have been met;
  • the services and merchandise requested have been provided.

Services provided include consultation with family and clergy, arrangement of funeral, preparation and filing of necessary documentation, transportation needs, and consents, and co-ordination with those providing other parts of the funeral service.

Cremation

Cremation is an alternative to earth burial. A variety of services and options are available such as direct cremation, or direct cremation with a memorial service. Cremation does not limit the funeral options available. Some cremations are preceded by viewing. If the body is viewed, embalming may take place, if the family requests it. Some religions have specific funeral preferences or requirements. If you don't know, ask your Funeral Director or clergy.

Direct cremation or simple disposition includes no visitation or funeral service. After death occurs and the family has signed the necessary documentation, the body is taken directly for cremation. After cremation the cremains (or ashes) are returned to the family.

Cremation may also include all the services that are performed for a traditional funeral but without burial of the body. With the selection of a cremation service, the body is embalmed at the time of death, dressed, cosmetized, and placed in a casket. Visitation hours and a funeral service in the chapel or church will also be provided. At the conclusion of the funeral service, the deceased is transported to the crematory. A graveside service for burial of the cremains may be scheduled for a later date or the family may choose to keep or scatter the cremains.

Choosing A Casket

Many different styles of caskets are available, but it is important to know that while caskets may appear to be similar, they may differ greatly in quality of construction and in the features that contribute to their value.

At Blake Funeral Chapel, we have a wide range of caskets from which you can choose. Our caskets provide a rich tradition of quality. There are only two types of caskets. The caskets made of metal and the caskets made of wood. More than anything else, the type of material the casket is made from determines the cost.

Celebration Of Life

Blake Funeral Chapel believes the funeral service should be a celebration of the life of the deceased. We want to help in this celebration by offering suggestions to personalize the visitation time and funeral service.

Many families find comfort in bringing from home items which are meaningful such as photographs, plaques, or mementos. Available at the funeral home are large picture boards which allow families to display photos, poems, or drawings of any size. We also encourage families to bring framed photographs or objects with special meaning to be displayed.
