Welcome

Blake Funeral Chapel Limited has been locally owned and family operated since 1924. The Funeral Chapel was built in 1935 by George E. Blake. It was designed with classical proportions, reminiscent of the regency style. This two storey brick and stone building is accentuated by a hip-roof, dormer, and round arch windows that are arranged symmetrically around the main entrance. Designed by R.E. Mason, this building was constructed by general contractor, John Wishart.

The Funeral Chapel is conveniently located in downtown Thunder Bay, on the corner of May and Donald streets. The facility is accessible and has parking for 80 cars.
We take pride in being flexible in all arrangements, whether that be a traditional service or an alternative form of service. We provide personalized choices and do so with pride and sensitivity, all the while helping you make your decisions affordable.

A funeral is a meaningful event that can help ease the pain of separation which naturally accompanies death. It is a time of sharing good memories and experiences with family and friends. It is a time when respect, concern, and appreciation for a life that has been lived can be expressed in a sincere manner. Our Funeral Directors can assist you in planning and coordinating all of the details and will explain all of the available options.

What Families Are Saying

“So sorry to here of your loss. Rob will be missed we always had such great visits and even though we never saw each other often it was a friendship that was always strong. God bless you and take care of each other.”
