Ted (Tivadar) Micsko

April 1, 1937 ~ December 23, 2018 (age 81)

It is with great sadness, the family of Ted Micsko announces his sudden passing on Saturday, December 23, 2018 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre at the age of 81 with family by his side.  Ted was born on April 1, 1937 in Barsonyos, Hungary.  He immigrated to Canada during the Hungarian Revolution at the young age of 19 in 1956.  Ted worked in the Caramat bush camp until 1970, and after he worked at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool 7B as a Millwright and was employed there until his retirement. He married his true love, Ica, in 1970 and they both welcomed the birth of their daughter, Christine in 1973.  Ted was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed spending time outside around the house, making sure his lawn was perfect and fixing even the smallest things that needed a little fixing.  He enjoyed going to the mall every Friday morning to see his friends and have coffee.  He also enjoyed watching soccer matches on tv but also liked staying active and going for walks.  Ted was a member of the Hungarian Friendship Circle and was one of the builders who helped build the Hungarian monument at the Friendship Gardens.  He was also a member of St. Patrick Cathedral Parish.  The greatest joys of his life were his 2 grandsons, Nicholas and Christian.  “Papa” was always there for his boys, whether they needed a ride to their activities, some cheering on at one of their soccer games, watching them do their taekwondo classes, or just teaching them about the little things in life.  The boys were always excited to have Papa come out to camp and have some fun enjoying the outdoors.  They will always have a piece of Papa in their hearts.  Left to mourn are his wife of 48 years, Ica, their daughter Christine, son-in-law Cliff and grandchildren, Nicholas and Christian.  He will be missed by his brother, Aladar Micsko (Thunder Bay), sister, Iren Meszaros (Hungary) and many nieces and nephews in Hungary.  Ted is predeceased by his parents Kalman and Maria Micsko, brother Endre, sister Rozalia Cser and many other family members in Hungary.  Funeral services for Ted will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1:30 pm at St. Patrick Cathedral, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla v.g.  Visitation for family and friends will be held half an hour prior to the service time.  Interment will take place at St. Andrews Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Ted Micsko will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2019.
